The Crewing module manages the crew members of the fleet and, for each of them, their
**trainings** and **certificates**. It answers the questions a crewing department is asked
every day: who is on file, which certificates does a rank require, which of them are missing
or about to expire, and who has attended which training.

The module appears in the main menu as **Crewing ashore/at sea**. It is a licensed module —
if it is missing, the installation is either not licensed for Crewing or the user lacks the
Crewing right.

## The main window

- **Left: the crew list** — all active crew members with last name, first name, department,
rank, rating, first contact, nationality and agency. A find panel above the list filters as
  you type.
- **Right: the details** of the selected person, organised by the ribbon tabs:

Ribbon tab | Content {class="compact"}
---|---
Details | The master data sheet of the crew member (read-only view; editing opens the contact dialog).
Training | The trainings assigned to this person — see [Training](Training.md).
Certificates | The certificates of this person with due-date traffic lights — see [Certificates](Certificates.md).
Details (Archived) | Replaces *Details* while the list shows archived crew (switch `Show Archived Crew`). In the archive, records can be viewed but trainings and certificates cannot be changed.

The Training and Certificates tabs appear once a crew member is selected.

## Managing crew members

Crew members are created and maintained in this module — they are the basis for everything
else; trainings and certificates can only be recorded for an existing person.

### Creating

Click `New` and choose `Crew` or `Office Crew`. The dialog asks for the rank, last name,
first name and date of birth (mandatory for crew, optional for office crew).

A more complete entry dialog — including birthplace, nationality, gender, passport and
seaman's book with expiry dates — is available through the **crew search**: click `Search`,
then `Create` in the search window.

If a person with the same name already exists, the module reacts instead of creating a
duplicate: an archived person can be re-activated, and an existing office contact can be
turned into a crew member.

### Editing

Select the person and click `Edit`. This opens the central contact dialog (the same one used
by the Office Manager) — name, addresses, communication and the crew-specific fields are
maintained there. The Details tab itself is a read-only view.

Under **Configuration > Required Details Fields** the company defines which fields count as
"complete". This is **not** a mandatory check when creating a person — it feeds the
completeness indicator in the crew status overview, so incomplete records become visible
instead of blocked.

### Archiving

`Archive` moves a person out of the active crew list. The dialog asks for a reason, the
archive date and an **archive type** (the types are maintained under Configuration), and
documents can be attached to the archiving. With the switch `Show Archived Crew` the list
shows the archived persons; the same button then restores a person back to the active crew.
A person can also be marked as *not to re-employ*, with a reason.

### Searching

`Search` finds people by name, address, communication entry (phone/e-mail), remark or crew
ID — in the active or the archived crew.

## The crew list of a ship

Which crew members are currently **on board** which vessel is maintained in the **Site
Manager**, not in the Crewing module: Site Manager > `Manage Crew List` > choose the ship.
The crew list shows the persons with their rank, embarkation and disembarkation dates and
end of contract. Crew members are taken from the persons on file in Crewing (`Add`,
`Change/Assign new`, `Remove from Crewlist`), and `Official Crew List` produces the
printable crew list of the vessel.

## Birthday list

`Birthday List` in the Crewing ribbon shows the birthdays and anniversaries of the crew for
a selectable month and year — a quick way to see whose birthday is coming up.
