Some functions work the same way in every module — attaching a document, searching, sharing, looking at a record's history. They are described here once, and the module chapters refer to this section instead of repeating them.

## The functions

Function | What it covers {class="compact"}
---|---
[Attachments](/General-Usage/Attachments.md) | Attaching documents to a record, opening, saving and removing them.
[Search](/General-Usage/Search.md) | Finding a record by name, number or full text — and what to check when nothing is found.
[Refresh](/General-Usage/Refresh.md) | Bringing the view up to date, and why this is **not** the same as fetching data from a vessel.
[Printing, Exporting, Sharing Data](/General-Usage/Share.md) | Printer, e-mail, PDF and Excel — and what ends up in the file.
[Show History](/General-Usage/Show-History.md) | What is recorded on a record, and why it cannot be edited.
[Select my Ships](/General-Usage/Select-My-Ships.md) | Preselecting the vessels you work with. Office only.
[Action](/General-Usage/Action.md) | Immediate, corrective and preventive actions, as free text or as tracked items.
[Attach a Risk Assessment](/General-Usage/Attach-RA.md) | Referencing an existing assessment — and why one you expect may not be offered.
[Management of Change](/General-Usage/MoC.md) | Linking a Management of Change document to a record.
[Position](/General-Usage/Position.md) | Port, coordinates, or both.
[Working with the calendar](/General-Usage/working-with-calendar.md) | Entering dates by typing or from the calendar, and the regional trap in `05/03`.
[Recognising field types](/General-Usage/possibleFields.md) | What the look of a field tells you about what it expects.
[Comments](/General/Comments/) · [Reminder](/General/Reminder/) | Commenting on a record and being reminded about it.

## Finding your way around the program

The **Main Modules** list on the left holds the sections; choosing one shows the available programs and documents under `Modules`. A module is started by double-clicking its icon — the same goes for the online help and for documents shown there.

`Gadgets` gives access to mini applications installed on the computer, and `Reports` to the favourite reports made available through ZeeBORN Fleet Management.

At first the menu shows only the modules available to **every** user of that PC. `Login` adds the ones enabled for you personally — so a module that seems to be missing is often a matter of not being logged in yet, rather than of a missing licence.
