Every audit carries two dates that must not be confused:

* the **Planned Audit Date** — when the audit is scheduled, and
* the **Inspection Date** — when it was actually carried out.

Correcting the **Inspection Date** afterwards used to require the full fill-out dialog. That dialog refuses to save while the audit has no findings and *no deficiencies found* is not ticked — so a pure date correction could be blocked by something that had nothing to do with the date. `Change Inspection Date` exists for exactly this case.

The **Planned Audit Date is never touched** by it. To move the planned date, use `Edit Planned Audit Date` instead.

## Correcting the date

1. Open the **Audit & Inspect** module.
2. Select the audit.
3. Open **More Actions** and choose `Change Inspection Date`.
4. The dialog shows the current Inspection Date for reference, a field for the new date, and a **Reason** field.
5. Enter the new date and the reason, then confirm.

The dialog insists on three things: a reason must be given, the new date may not lie in the future, and it has to differ from the current one.

## What it changes — and what it does not

Only the Inspection Date is changed. The audit is not opened, findings are not touched, and the deficiency check is not run.

The change is written to the **audit history** with the old date, the new date and the reason, so it stays traceable afterwards.

## Who may do it

Changing the Inspection Date needs the **same permission as editing the audit** — anyone who may edit audits may correct the date, and anyone who may not, does not see the function.

For an audit that is already closed, the additional permission for editing closed audits is required, exactly as for any other change to a closed audit. Without it the function refuses the change and says so. See [Closed Audits](/HSSEQ/Audit-and-Inspect/Closed-Audits.md).
