With the update of the ISM code on the 01st of July 2010 operational risk assessment became a mandatory part of the code and all operators had to comply. Although most operators – especially in the tanker industry – followed that best industry practice well before this update of the ISM code came into force, many were struggling with the administrative handling of issues like review schedule, objective evidence for review or distribution of conducted risk assessments in an effective manner. The handling of risk assessment management is from ZeeBORN’s perspective an integral part of a complete Management Information System (MIS) and consequently we have developed an additional tool – in close co-ordination with one of our customers based on a major "IACS" class guidance" on risk assessment – in our system to cover this area.
