The installation of the software will be finalized with activating the software license.

During the first start of the ZeeBORN software the system will request the input of the activation key. The activation key can be found in the documents sent to you together with the download and install instructions.

After entering the activation key, click on `Check` and the key will be validated. If a correct activation key has been entered, you can see the details of your license and the `Activate` button gets enabled. Clicking on `Activate` will activate the selected licenses.

## Choose the correct activation key

You license documents contains activation keys for the office software and for all licensed sites/vessels. Please make sure to use the correct license key for activating the correct license.

## Changing the licenses

If you have activated a wrong license or need to change the license due to any other reason, you will need to start the ZeeBORN software from the command line. This will allow you to enter a different activation key.

+++cmd
```
"%zeebornclient%\zeeborn" -license
```
+++Powershell
```
."$env:zeebornclient\zeeborn" -license
```
+++

## Activating New License

If you add new vessels and sites to the system, you usually also receive new licenses for those sites for enabling data replication.
New licenses will be made available as an updated keyfile or via a complete software update that also includes the new licenses.

* After installing the software update, open module `Overview` and switch to tab `Ship/Site Status` (that's usually the default how the system opens.)
* Open menu `Actions` and choose `Check\Assign Licenses`.
* The system will now go through all the sites and vessels already created in the system and tries to find a valid license via the site's registration number or vessel's IMO number.
* After assigning new licenses you will be able to exchange data with the just activated sites via the [Data Replication](/Administration/Database-Replication/) module.
