# Adjust Counter

!!!WARNING
Requires access right Maintenance > Components > Component Counter > Adjust Counter
!!!

The `Adjust Counter` function is used for correcting a components counter value in case of it has been replaced with another component that has a different lifetime or in similar cases.

The counter adjustment is done by entering a factor that will be calculated against the existing counter values in the system.

## Example:

The system has already a lifetime of 9,500 hrs. The new component used as a replacement has a lifetime of 0 hrs. The adjustment factor to be entered is -9,500. When the system reaches a lifetime of 10,000 hrs the given adjustment factor will be added to the systems lifetime resulting in a lifetime of the new component of 500 hrs.
