Contract structures can become large, and an item is not always where you would expect it. The Contracts section therefore offers two search functions in the ribbon.

## Find Contract

**Find Contract** searches all levels of the contract hierarchy - main contracts, sub-contracts and their sub-levels. The search term is compared with the contract **name**, **number** and **title**.

- If exactly one contract matches, it is selected in the tree immediately.
- If several contracts match, a list is shown with the name, number, vendor and the position in the hierarchy of each hit. Select the entry you are looking for and confirm with **Go to**.

## Find Item

**Find Item** searches the contract items. The search term is compared with the item **name**, **makers reference**, **item number** and **internal number**.

- If exactly one item matches, the system opens its contract and marks the item in the item list.
- If several items match, a list of the matching items is shown, including the contract each item belongs to. After selecting an entry the system opens the corresponding contract and marks the item.

## Automatic opening of the tree

The contract tree loads its entries only when a node is expanded. Both search functions therefore open the required part of the tree automatically before the entry is selected - you do not have to know or expand the path yourself.
