Contracts are managed in the contract tree on the left side of the Contracts window. The functions for adding, changing and removing contracts are available in the **Contracts** group of the ribbon and in the context menu of the tree.

## Adding a contract

Select the position in the tree where the new entry belongs and choose **Add**:

- With the root entry selected, a new **main contract** is created.
- With a contract selected, a new **sub-contract** is created below it.

You are asked for the name of the new entry. All further details can be entered afterwards with the **Edit** function.

## Editing a contract

Select the contract and choose **Edit**. The contract editor opens with the following fields:

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name | The name of the contract as shown in the tree |
| Number | The contract number of the supplier or of your own contract register |
| Title | The official title or reference of the agreement |
| Vendor | The supplier the contract was agreed with |
| Duration (years) | The agreed runtime of the contract in years |
| Description | Free text, for example the scope or the tendered value of the agreement |

The same editor is used for main contracts and for all sub-levels, so a section of a contract can carry its own number, vendor and description if required.

## Deleting a contract

Select the contract and choose **Delete**. A contract can only be deleted when it is empty:

- If items are still assigned to it, delete these items first.
- If it still contains sub-contracts, delete these first.

This prevents contract items from losing their assignment by accident.
