# Initial Data Transfer

If a new site/vessel was added to the system, an initial data transfer needs to be sent to the site/vessel.

# Preparation

Make sure a license was issued and activated for the new site. If no valid license can be found for the new site/vessel, the site won't appear as a destination in the Data Replication module.

# Create a Full Transfer Package

Sending an initial transfer to a new site/vessel involves sending a transfer package with a full dataset. Usually the Data Replication will automatically choose the Full Transfer transfer type for sites/vessels that never received a data transfer before.

  1. Set Transfer Type to Full Transfer
  2. Check the site/vessel that shall receive the initial data transfer package.
  3. Click on Create Package(s) for creating the transfer file. Depending on the amount of data available in the system, this process can take several minutes.
  4. After the creation of the transfer file is finished, click on Open Export Folder. This will open the main export folder containing sub folders for each site/vessel.
  5. Enter the folder for the related site/vessel and copy the *.replic file just created and send it to the site/vessel. Even if an automatic data transfer is already set up, the initial data transfer can't be done via the automatic transfer as the receiving site doesn't have the required configuration settings yet. So, this initial transfer will always be a manual process.

# Create a Full Transfer Package for Documents module

By default, all data managed in the Documents module are not included in the normal transfer. If this is also the case in your configuration, you will also need to create an initial data transfer for the Documents module.

  1. Switch to Documents & Procedures module.
  2. Click the Send Updates button.
  3. Select Transfer Type Full Transfer
  4. Select the destination site/vessel.
  5. Click on Create Package(s) for creating the transfer file. Depending on the amount of data available in the system, this process can take several minutes.
  6. After the creation of the transfer file is finished, click on Open Export Folder. This will open the main export folder containing sub folders for each site/vessel.
  7. Enter the folder for the related site/vessel and copy the *_docs.replic file just created and send it to the site/vessel.

# Importing Transfer File(s) on Site/Vessel System

After the ZeeBORN Software is already installed and the client components are ready, the transfer files (*.replic) can be imported with a double-click on the files in Windows Explorer.

If data from Documents & Procedures module are sent in a separate file, the normal *.replic file should be imported first before importing the *_docs.replic file.

After importing this initial data transfer, the site/vessel will be able to start its operation. If automatic data transfer is to be used, it can now be activated.
