# Using Microsoft Word as Editor

Instead of the integrated text editor you may also edit your documents in Microsoft Word. If Word is installed on your computer, the Edit in Word button is available via the Experimental tab.

For opening a document in Word you'll need first to start the integrated editor. In the Experimental tab you'll find the button for opening the current document in Word. After editing the document in Word, save the temporary file, close Word and the updated version of your document will be loaded into the integrated document editor.

# Limitations

You have always to consider that the final text will be finally used in a system that doesn't have all the capabilities of Word.

To make the later import of a document created in Word into ZeeBORN Documents as reliable as possible, please consider the following principles:

  1. Always use in Word the available styles - especially headings.
  2. Switch in Word to Web View to see how different window sizes affect the text layout.
  3. Avoid changing fonts and font sizes. If you really need a different font, please consider creating a new style for it instead.
  4. Keep the layout as simple as possible.
  5. Do not create drawings or composites of graphical elements in Word. If you need such elements in your document, please create a single picture in a suitable app and insert the picture into Word.
  6. Use the Import Word Document feature for importing Word documents.
  7. Use Copy & Paste between Word and ZeeBORN Documents only for copying already existing documents or document parts from ZeeBORN Documents to Word and (after applying some modifications in Word) back to ZeeBORN Documents.
  8. Never use Copy & Paste for copying Word documents as a completely new document to ZeeBORN Documents.
  9. If the layout of the text gets mixed up, try using the Remove Formatting function in ZeeBORN Documents. This will reset the formatting to the default styles and will remove all Word elements that can't be handled by ZeeBORN Documents
  10. IMPORTANT: If you find a Word document that can't be imported into ZeeBORN Documents, please contact ZeeBORN support and send a copy of the Word document to ZeeBORN. Microsoft Word is a "quick moving target" and introduces new formatting features with each new release that might break the import feature. Those problems can be solved only if ZeeBORN receives copies of such problematic documents.
