Attachments
Documents and files can be attached to almost any record — a finding, a purchase order, a certificate, a maintenance job. The buttons are the same everywhere; only the sources offered differ from module to module.
Adding a document
Attach adds a file to the record. Depending on the module you are offered:
Some modules also accept files by drag and drop onto the record or its attachment list.
Where several files are added at once, the module offers that explicitly — attaching one document and attaching several are separate entries.
Opening, saving, removing
Worth knowing
An attachment belongs to its record, and travels with it through the data transfer. A document attached in the office reaches the vessel with the next transfer, not immediately — the same as any other change.
Attaching a file with Delete Source removes it from disk. If it was the only copy, it now exists only in ZeeBORN. That is the intended behaviour and the reason the option is named the way it is.
Some records require an attachment before they can be saved or closed — an analysis result, or the signed form on an approval. Where that applies, the module says so at the point where it matters.
