Attach RA

A risk assessment that already exists can be attached to a record — a maintenance job, an incident, a ship defect report or a task. The assessment is referenced, not copied: it stays in its module and is opened from there.

Only assessments approved in the office can be attached. One that is still being worked on does not appear in the selection.

Two ways to find the assessment

Search Risk Assessment — when you know roughly what it is called. Part of the name is enough. Pick the assessment from the result.

Select from Operation Tree — when you do not. The tree shows the operations, grouped by operation group; operations that have a usable assessment are marked. Open the operation, select the assessment underneath it, and confirm.

Show Details opens the full assessment before you decide, and Share prints or saves it from there.

Assign attaches the selected assessment. Remove — only visible while one is attached — undoes the link. The risk assessment itself is not deleted by this; only the reference goes away.

When the assessment you are looking for is not offered

This is the most frequent question about this dialog, and there are three usual causes:

  1. It is not approved yet. Only assessments approved in the office can be attached.
  2. Its operation is inactive. By default the tree shows only active operations, so assessments belonging to a retired operation are filtered out silently. On a vessel with a long history this can hide most of what exists. The setting include inactive operations in RA selection changes it — see Configuration > Risk Assessment, where the interplay with the status rules is described in full.
  3. Its status is not among those offered. Which statuses may be picked also depends on that configuration.

If the tree looks unexpectedly short, cause 2 is by far the most likely.
